The community of Dartmouth, located in Southeastern Massachusetts, is the third largest town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in terms of area. However, 37.5 percent of its 97.5 square is water, making for beautiful countryside vistas and coastline views. The community borders Buzzard’s Bay and numerous coastal estuaries and related open spaces including the Slocum River Reserve, Little River, Apponagansett River and Clark’s Cove. The year round population of Dartmouth is twenty-nine thousand people. The northern part of Town is a historic rural environment composed of scenic forest lands, with residential homes nestled within the area. Dartmouth was once known for its farm land and is still home to most of the regions working farms. Wide meadows are usually crisscrossed by old stone walls delineating pastures.

South Dartmouth is known for the historic villages of Padanaram and Russells Mills. Russells Mills is located in a wooded area and boasts and almost unchanged settlement. Padanaram is a somewhat exclusive community mostly due to high property values on its narrow New England tree-lined streets with exclusive boutiques and restaurants running along the picturesque Padanaram harbor. The harbor is a great place for sailing, swimming and fishing.

Dartmouth is home to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, a four-year institution with numerous colleges of study. UMD brings a university-town vibrancy to the area with frequent lectures and entertainment offerings open to the public. It’s well loved Freedom Festival celebrates the Fourth of July on the central campus commons with a free evening of music and fireworks to all who want to participate.

The North Dartmouth commercial district of the community is composed of a good cross-section of local and nationally recognized businesses. North Dartmouth supports one inside mall and several strip malls anchored by major retailers. The Community is easily accessible, traversed by Massachusetts State Highway Route 6 and by U.S. Interstate 195.
