Fairhaven High School wins fall season state cheerleading championship
“But we hadn’t won fall (season states) since 2011 so we’re excited about this one,” said Fairhaven coach Meagan Rudenauer. “There’s more teams in the fall.”
Fairhaven won with a combination of clutch execution and overall excellence across the board.
“We wanted to hit everything – there was one minor fall but it didn’t matter,” said Rudenauer. “We just wanted to go out and perform today and that’s what we did. We won regionals last week, too, so we wanted to keep up that momentum.”
The Blue Devils were led by five senior captains, Frankie Consiglio, Camille Moniz, Julia Rousseau, Hannah Lima, and Sydney Lobo.
“There a big part of our team,” said Rudenauer. “We’ll have them one more season, then we go back to all girls. Our seniors have won a state title in all four years so that’s the biggest accomplishment for them.”
Some of Fairhaven’s best may go on to cheer in college.
“I hope so,” said Rudenauer. “(College coaches are) looking at them now. Some of them are being recruited.”
