The 2nd Fairhaven Short Film Festival at Town Hall on March 4 & 5th!

Presented by Howe Allen Realty. Benefit for The Fairhaven Animal Shelter.

(Fairhaven, MA. Feb 9, 2016) The 2nd Annual Fairhaven Short Film Festival will “reel in” at Town Hall in Fairhaven, Massachusetts on Friday March 4th and repeated on Saturday, March 5th. Main presenting sponsor Howe Allen Realty will once again team with Asbury Shorts USA to present a highly entertaining screening of world renowned, award winning short films from the past and present. Net proceeds from these two shows will benefit The Fairhaven Animal Shelter. Doors open at 6:30pm and the first film blasts on to the screen at 7:00pm both nights.  Masters of Ceremonies will be Ashley Bendiksen of the ONE Theater Group and Tim Evans of Howe Allen Realty.

Asbury Shorts USA combines award-winning short films from past years with new international festival honorees, creating a rare opportunity for audiences to view amazing films on a real cinema screen instead of You Tube, smart phones or computers. Academy Award nominated director Jason Reitman (JUNO, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking, Young Adult) calls Asbury Shorts: “The best short film show I’ve ever seen.” The fast-paced and fun showcase features the best in comedy, drama and outstanding animation. Highlights of the two-hour program on March 4th and 5th at Fairhaven Town Hall include:

The Girl and the Gondola – British director Abbe Robinson’s poignant and charming story of a young Venetian girl dreaming of becoming a gondolier like her father while battling 900 years of tradition. This short was recently awarded the Best International Short Film at The Garden State Film Festival and Best Short Film at The Martha’s Vineyard Short Film Festival.

Rust – A short documentary following an artist in Nova Scotia, Canada who creates pieces from found metal in and around his property. He lets the metal rust utilizing nature as his “co artist.” Director Ben Proudfoot from Halifax won “Best Short Film” at the Shelburne International Film Expo this past September in Canada.

Fait d’Hiver – A classic dark comedy short from Belgium director Dirk Belien. The film was nominated  for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film a few years back.

In all, there will be 10 world-class shorts in the festival including Oscar nominees, “Best of Show” winners from various US film festivals and international honorees. Asbury Shorts USA programs have been presented at: The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Lake Shore Theatre in Chicago, Summer Stage in Central Park, The Director’s Guild Theatre in Manhattan, The AERO Theatre in Santa Monica, Royal Festival Hall in London, The Alamo Draft House in Dallas, and the Leminske Theater in Berlin to name a few of the prestigious venues where audiences have enjoyed the world’s best short films.
